Brian To’o Joins Brisbane Broncos on Three‑Year, $2.1 Million Deal

Brisbane, June 13, 2025 – In a blockbuster signing that is sending shockwaves through the NRL, Australian winger Brian To’o has officially inked a three‑year contract with the Brisbane Broncos, worth an estimated AUD 3 million (USD 2.1 million). The move is set to commence ahead of the 2026 season.

Broncos CEO Andrew Hill made the announcement this morning at Red Hill, saying, “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Brian to the Broncos family. His blistering speed, try‑scoring prowess, and physical edge align perfectly with our ambition to return Brisbane to consistent premiership contention.”

A Penrith Panthers stalwart until now, To’o has been widely regarded as one of the game’s most dynamic wingers. Since his NRL debut in 2019, the 27‑year‑old has notched 105 appearances and 73 tries for the Panthers. Known for his trademark long, powerful runs down the touchline and defensive solidity under high balls, To’o played a key role in Penrith’s 2021 and 2022 premiership victories, and was shortlisted for the Dally M Winger of the Year in 2023 and 2024.

To’o told reporters the Broncos opportunity was simply too good to pass up. “I’ve had a fantastic time at Penrith and I’m proud of what we achieved, but when Brisbane came knocking with such a strong vision for the future, I knew it was time for a new challenge. I’ve always admired the Broncos’ proud history and the passion of the Maroons crowd. I’m excited to pull on that Broncos jersey and help bring success back to Brisbane.”

The deal also includes a player option for 2029, as well as substantial off-field performance and sponsorship incentives. Industry insiders suggest total upside could push the contract value closer to $2.5 million AUD by 2028 if To’o meets individual performance markers, including try tally targets and representative selections.

Broncos Head Coach Kevin Walters, in his first season back with the club, praised the signing as a “game‑changer.” Walters stated, “Adding a talent like Brian gives us that X‑factor out wide. His footwork and lethal finishing will add real power to our back‑three, and he’ll force opponents to rethink their edge defence.”

The move marks a significant statement from Broncos management, who have endured a trophy-less run since their last premiership in 2006. With fans increasingly vocal about the club’s need to return to elite status, the To’o signing follows other recent investments in youth and experience, including the recruitment of high-profile forwards and rising backline stars.

Penrith Panthers coach David Furner wished To’o well at his media presser on Friday. “Brian has been outstanding for us. He’s professional, driven, and a top bloke in the locker room. We’ll miss him, but respect his decision. It’s time for him to lead another chapter in his career.”

Broncos supporters have already begun decking out their social media with #ToODownUnder, applauding the club’s ability to attract marquee talent away from the premiership dynasty that is Penrith. Local merchandise providers confirmed they’ve begun production on To’o Broncos jerseys ahead of schedule.

The deal’s timing – just after the State of Origin series – also strengthens the club’s depth for representative selections, with To’o expected to feature heavily in next year’s Queensland Maroons lineup.

As he prepares to swap the Panthers lion for the Broncos stallion, Brian To’o brings both elite skill and marquee star status to Brisbane. If on‑field results match off‑field headlines, this signing could mark the start of a resurgence era for the Broncos — and potentially shift the balance of power in the NRL for seasons to come.
