Norwich City Face Competition from Millwall and Preston for Aston Villa Goalkeeper Filip Marschall

According to Football League World, Norwich City have joined Millwall and Preston North End in the pursuit of Aston Villa shot-stopper Filip Marschall.

With a new era beginning at Carrow Road under head coach Liam Manning, the Canaries are expected to be active in the summer transfer window as they aim to rebuild and launch another bid for Premier League promotion. Manning, who took over after the late-season departure of Johannes Hoff Thorup, will be eager to shape the squad to suit his playing style.

One area of concern is the goalkeeper position, following the exit of Angus Gunn, and Norwich appear to have set their sights on Marschall. The 22-year-old is attracting attention from multiple Championship clubs, including Millwall and Preston. Despite Preston already securing Daniel Iversen, they are still interested in bringing in Marschall as additional competition.

Marschall is under contract at Villa Park until at least 2028. Last season, he gained valuable experience in League Two with Crewe Alexandra, and he has also had loan spells at MK Dons and Gateshead.

Ideal Fit for Manning’s System

Marschall fits the profile of the modern goalkeeper, known for his composure and technical ability with the ball at his feet — a key attribute for Manning’s possession-focused style of play. During his previous stints with managers like Mike Williamson at MK Dons and Gateshead, Marschall thrived in systems that emphasized building from the back.

The young keeper could be a smart addition if Manning is looking to make a strong statement early in his tenure at Norwich. At just 22, Marschall may be seeking a long-term role where he can grow, and Carrow Road might offer that opportunity.

Norwich Exploring Multiple Goalkeeper Options

Norwich have already added one goalkeeper to the squad, signing Daniel Grimshaw from Plymouth Argyle following their relegation. However, the club remains in the market for more reinforcements between the posts.

Marschall is the second goalkeeper linked with Norwich this week, alongside Leicester City’s Jakub Stolarczyk. It’s clear the Canaries want a young, promising backup behind Grimshaw, who is entering his prime.

That said, landing either Marschall or Stolarczyk could prove challenging, especially with other Championship clubs also interested.
