As the 2025 NFL season draws closer, one thing is clear: the Cincinnati Bengals remain a legitimate threat in the AFC. Despite a turbulent 2024 campaign marred by injuries, the Bengals are poised for a serious bounce-back — and any team overlooking them does so at their own peril.
With Joe Burrow returning to full health, Cincinnati regains one of the league’s elite quarterbacks. His chemistry with star wideout Ja’Marr Chase remains one of the deadliest connections in football. Add Tee Higgins and a solid offensive line to the mix, and the Bengals’ offense looks ready to reignite.
Defensively, Cincinnati is no pushover either. While there were some offseason departures, the Bengals retained key pieces and have infused youth and speed into their secondary. Most importantly, the front office has reportedly restarted contract talks with Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson — a move that could solidify the defensive line and provide the pass rush spark needed to challenge the AFC’s best.
Head coach Zac Taylor has also proven he can rally his team and make deep postseason runs. Underestimating his leadership — especially with a healthy and motivated roster — would be a critical mistake for rivals like the Chiefs, Bills, and Ravens.
The AFC is packed with talent, but the Bengals have already shown they can hang with — and beat — the best. Come playoff time, experience and resilience count for everything. And Cincinnati has both.
The Bengals might not be the media darlings this offseason, but they thrive in the underdog role. If other AFC contenders aren’t paying attention, they could be in for a rude awakening when the Bengals come roaring back.
