Rangers Tie Down Talented Prospect Calum Adamson on New Two-Year Deal

Rangers have secured the future of one of their brightest academy prospects, with teenage midfielder Calum Adamson putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal at Ibrox.

The 18-year-old, who has impressed throughout the youth ranks, becomes one of three players to commit to fresh terms as the club continues to put faith in its development pathway. The move underlines Rangers’ intention to retain their most promising talent amid a transformative summer behind the scenes.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on Friday evening, reporting that Adamson has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027. The youngster is highly rated by the club’s coaching staff, with first-team boss Russell Martin also said to be aware of his growing potential.

Adamson’s extension comes in the wake of major changes in the Ibrox boardroom. A consortium led by American businessman Andrew Cavenagh and backed by 49ers Enterprises completed a majority takeover earlier this summer, ushering in a new era of ambition and investment. One of their early priorities has been ensuring the club does not lose sight of its academy talent as it looks to re-establish itself at the top of Scottish football and compete in Europe.

A source close to the deal told Record Sport: “The new ownership group is keen on keeping the talented youngsters at the club. They see youth development as a crucial part of Rangers’ long-term vision.”

That strategy is already bearing fruit. Adamson is part of a group of young players who have stood out in recent seasons, with the midfielder praised for his technical quality, tactical maturity and professionalism. While he is yet to make his senior debut, the new contract is viewed as a clear vote of confidence in his development trajectory.

The deal also comes at a time when Russell Martin is said to be taking a close look at the club’s B Team and youth setup during pre-season. With several senior departures expected and recruitment ongoing, there could be opportunities for emerging talent to break through — particularly if Adamson continues to impress in training.

He joins two other promising players in signing fresh terms, as Rangers look to ensure continuity and build a sustainable core around which to construct future success. The club’s leadership has been vocal about wanting to blend ambition in the transfer market with a strong emphasis on homegrown talent.

For Adamson, the new deal marks an important milestone in a journey that began at youth level and now edges closer to the senior stage. With the backing of the board, the belief of the coaching staff, and the platform of a club aiming high, the young midfielder will be hoping to turn potential into presence in the seasons to come.

And with Ibrox under new stewardship, that pathway to the top may be clearer than ever.
