David Brooks to Rangers Transfer Now on Cards as Door Officially Opens

Rangers FC have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth winger David Brooks, as the door has officially opened for a potential summer move to Ibrox. The 26-year-old Welsh international is now firmly on the radar of the Scottish giants after Bournemouth made him available for transfer ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Sources close to the south coast club confirmed this week that Brooks is not part of manager Andoni Iraola’s long-term plans, with Bournemouth actively seeking to offload the player either permanently or on loan with a view to buy. This development has placed Rangers in pole position, with boss Philippe Clement known to be a long-time admirer of the versatile attacker.

Brooks, who has overcome significant health challenges in recent years — including a successful battle against Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma — is eager for a fresh start and consistent first-team football. Despite his incredible comeback and several bright cameos last season, game time at the Vitality Stadium has been limited, prompting the player’s openness to a move abroad.

Rangers have been monitoring Brooks’ situation for months and are now expected to intensify negotiations, with discussions reportedly already underway between the player’s representatives and Ibrox officials. A permanent deal is believed to be the preferred option for the Light Blues, though a structured loan with an obligation to buy could also be explored depending on wage contributions.

The potential arrival of Brooks would be a major statement by Rangers, who are seeking to reinforce their wide attacking options following the departures of Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo. With Champions League qualifiers looming, Clement is keen to bolster his attacking depth with players who can operate both centrally and out wide — qualities that Brooks has demonstrated throughout his career with Sheffield United, Bournemouth, and the Welsh national team.

Brooks, who has 27 caps and 3 goals for Wales, would bring experience, creativity, and Premier League pedigree to a Rangers side determined to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from Celtic. His ability to beat defenders, create chances, and contribute in the final third would make him an immediate asset in Clement’s 4-2-3-1 system.

Rangers’ sporting director Nils Koppen is believed to have made Brooks one of the club’s top attacking targets, and the player’s Premier League background aligns with the club’s recent transfer strategy of bringing in proven talents with high ceilings.

While interest from English Championship sides remains, Brooks is said to be intrigued by the prospect of European football and becoming a key figure at one of Britain’s most historic clubs. Should personal terms be agreed, a medical could be arranged swiftly, paving the way for a high-profile unveiling at Ibrox.

As the transfer window heats up, this potential deal is one for Rangers fans to watch closely. With the door now officially open, all signs point toward David Brooks trading red and black for royal blue in the coming weeks.
