FC Twente Issue Robin Pröpper Warning as He Stalls on Rangers Transfer Exit

FC Twente have issued a firm stance regarding the uncertain future of Robin Pröpper, as the Dutch defender continues to stall on completing a move away from the club — with Scottish giants Rangers FC circling.

The Eredivisie side had reportedly accepted a bid from Rangers last week, with personal terms believed to be close to agreement. However, Pröpper’s hesitance to commit to the Ibrox switch has led to frustration behind the scenes at Twente, with manager Joseph Oosting urging the player to make a decision quickly.

“At some point, indecision affects both clubs,” Oosting told Dutch media. “We have a season to prepare for, and Robin’s future is a key part of our planning. We won’t wait forever.”

The 30-year-old centre-back, a mainstay in Twente’s defence since 2021, is viewed by Rangers boss Philippe Clement as an experienced addition to bolster a squad aiming to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title. His leadership, aerial strength, and composure on the ball make him an attractive option to partner Connor Goldson or Leon Balogun.

But Pröpper’s delay has raised eyebrows. Sources close to the player suggest he is weighing up lifestyle factors and the transition to Scottish football, while also fielding interest from two unnamed Bundesliga clubs.

Rangers are not short of defensive targets, but their hierarchy has made clear that Pröpper was identified early in the window as a priority signing — particularly with injury concerns and squad reshuffling under way.

Twente, for their part, want clarity before the new campaign kicks off and are unwilling to be caught off guard late in the transfer window.

Unless Pröpper makes a decision soon, the deal risks collapse — and Rangers may be forced to pivot swiftly to alternative options.
