Rangers and Wolves discover Crystal Palace transfer stance on £10m target as interest heats up
The transfer battle for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is intensifying, with both Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers informed of the Eagles’ firm stance regarding their £10 million valuation of the player.
Crystal Palace unwilling to sanction cut-price deal
According to sources close to Selhurst Park, Palace are reluctant to let the 21-year-old leave on the cheap and have placed a £10 million price tag on the England youth international. The South London club view Rak-Sakyi as one of their brightest academy products and are only prepared to entertain offers that match their valuation in full, amid growing interest from clubs in both England and Scotland.
Rangers, now under new boss Russell Martin, are believed to be eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of their Champions League qualifiers later this month. The Ibrox side have already been active in the market, adding Nasser Djiga, Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, Thelo Aasgaard and others to their ranks, but Martin reportedly views Rak-Sakyi’s pace and creativity as key attributes that could transform his front line.
Wolves also in the race
Meanwhile, Wolves have emerged as serious contenders for Rak-Sakyi’s signature. Gary O’Neil is in the market for wide players capable of providing versatility across the front three following several high-profile departures over the past year. The Midlands side believe the Palace winger’s experience in English football — combined with his relatively low wages compared to other Premier League targets — makes him an attractive proposition.
Rak-Sakyi spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he impressed by scoring 15 goals and notching six assists in League One. Last season, he made sporadic appearances for Palace in the Premier League but struggled to dislodge the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze in the pecking order.
Decision time for Palace and the player
Palace manager Oliver Glasner is understood to be a fan of Rak-Sakyi’s potential but may be willing to sanction his departure if the club receives a bid that meets their valuation. The South Londoners are mindful of balancing their squad ahead of the new campaign and could use the funds to strengthen other positions.
For Rak-Sakyi, the prospect of regular first-team football could be decisive. Rangers can offer him the lure of European competition and the chance to play in front of packed crowds at Ibrox, while Wolves present the opportunity to remain in the Premier League.
With the transfer window entering its decisive phase, both clubs are expected to formalise their interest in the coming days. Palace, however, remain firm: unless the £10 million asking price is met, Rak-Sakyi will not be leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
