Rangers have reportedly settled on appointing Davide Ancelotti as their next permanent manager for the 2025/26 campaign.

The Ibrox club are actively searching for a new head coach, with various candidates having been linked to the role. Interim boss Barry Ferguson is anticipated to depart at the conclusion of his temporary tenure, as the club do not view him as a long-term solution.

Ancelotti set to launch managerial career at Rangers

Davide Ancelotti, who has served as assistant to his father Carlo Ancelotti at clubs like Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid, is now preparing to step out on his own as a head coach.

Rather than following his father to Brazil—where Carlo is set to become the national team manager—Davide is expected to begin his own managerial journey at Rangers. According to a report from AS on 12 May, the Italian is “almost certain” to take over at Ibrox.

Though he will briefly join his father at the start of his Brazil tenure, Davide is not expected to remain there long.

A bold but promising move for Rangers

Rangers are in need of a fresh, ambitious coach eager to establish himself, and Ancelotti fits that profile well. With experience in elite European environments and exposure to top-tier footballing philosophies, he brings both presence and tactical knowledge.

Having worked at iconic clubs and experienced the Premier League with Everton, Ancelotti offers a well-rounded background. Taking charge of a storied club like Rangers presents a fitting opportunity to make his mark.

While the appointment does carry some risk, the club is betting on Ancelotti’s pedigree, connections, and potential. Supporters will be hoping the move materializes smoothly, though a few formalities still need to be addressed.
