Rangers Submit Offer to Davide Ancelotti Amid Managerial Search
Rangers have reportedly made a formal approach to appoint Davide Ancelotti as their new manager, with the club accelerating their pursuit of a permanent successor to Philippe Clement.
Despite the ongoing takeover process involving Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, the Ibrox side appear keen to finalise their managerial appointment beforehand.
The search for a new boss has intensified in recent days, and although several names — including former manager Steven Gerrard — have been linked, Ancelotti has quickly risen to the top of the shortlist.
According to Spanish outlet ElDesmarque, Rangers have tabled a “significant” offer for the 35-year-old, with Ancelotti said to be intrigued by the opportunity. While Scottish outlets suggest the process is still in its early stages, reports from Spain indicate the Real Madrid assistant is now seen as a leading candidate.
However, the Light Blues face competition for his signature. Serie B outfit Como are also believed to have made an offer, viewing Ancelotti as a possible replacement for Cesc Fabregas — who himself is reportedly in the frame to take over from Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.
Ancelotti, though, is not rushing into a decision, as he is expected to join the Brazil national team setup once his father, Carlo Ancelotti, assumes his role as head coach later this month. June is expected to be a pivotal month in determining his next move.
Though Ancelotti lacks experience as a first-team manager, he has built a strong reputation for his tactical intelligence — particularly in set-piece strategies. He also has prior experience in British football, having served as his father’s assistant at Everton from 2019 to 2021.
A move to Ibrox would offer Ancelotti a chance to prove himself in a high-pressure environment and test his credentials on the European stage — a challenge that could align with the ambitions of the incoming 49ers Enterprise regime.
