Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has voiced his disappointment after confirming that midfielder Reo Hatate will miss the upcoming Scottish Cup final due to injury. The Japanese international, who has struggled with fitness throughout the season, has now been ruled out of the season finale, dealing a significant blow to Celtic’s midfield options.
Hatate, known for his dynamic play and creativity in the middle of the park, had only recently returned to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, a fresh setback means he will play no part in the final against Rangers at Hampden Park.Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Rodgers expressed his frustration at the timing of the injury. “It’s a big disappointment for Reo and for us as a team,” he said. “He’s worked incredibly hard to come back, and we were hoping he could play a role in the final. Unfortunately, it’s just come too soon for him.”
Rodgers praised Hatate’s commitment during his rehabilitation and admitted his absence would be felt on the pitch. “He’s a top professional, and we know how much he wanted to be involved. But we have to protect the player and think long term.”Despite the setback, Rodgers remains confident in his squad’s ability to step up in Hatate’s absence. “We’ve had to deal with challenges all season, and this is just another one. The focus now is on preparing the team we have fit and ready.”
Celtic will now look to rally without one of their key midfielders as they aim to secure the domestic double in what promises to be a fiery Scottish Cup final.
