Police Scotland has confirmed that nine people were arrested and 15 individuals charged following Celtic fans’ title celebrations in Glasgow city centre on Saturday.

Despite appeals from both the club and local authorities for fans to stay away, large crowds gathered in the Trongate area to mark Celtic’s 55th league championship. While much of the day passed peacefully, police noted that several incidents occurred.

Three people were arrested at Celtic Park and six more in the city centre. Officers also issued fixed penalty notices and recorded warnings, with alcohol seized from some attendees. A total of 15 people will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged offences including carrying offensive weapons, assault, and possession of pyrotechnics.

Cleanup efforts began Saturday evening, with damage reported in the area. Traffic lights at Glasgow Cross were left inoperative, and images from the scene showed littered streets, monuments being climbed, and lingering smoke from flares.

Amid the aftermath, some Celtic supporters were seen helping with the cleanup, offering a rare bright spot during the disruption.

Celtic had previously urged fans to celebrate in a safe and respectful manner, and reiterated their commitment to working with city officials to find a more appropriate venue for future celebrations that avoids disruption to public infrastructure.

As the team now shifts focus to the upcoming Scottish Cup final, discussions continue on how to better manage future title celebrations to ensure public safety and reduce disturbances.
