The Wests Tigers have launched an investigation after a violent altercation during their match against the Rabbitohs resulted in multiple injuries and two men facing assault charges.
The incident occurred around 7:50pm on Sunday at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, when a fight broke out between rival supporters, according to a police statement issued Monday.
Responding officers were reportedly assaulted — one was punched in the head, and another sustained facial injuries. One officer was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a suspected concussion, while the other was treated at Campbelltown Hospital.
Four spectators involved in the altercation were removed from the stadium.
Campbelltown Police reported:
“A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with affray, two counts of assaulting police, and resisting arrest. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on June 12, 2025.
A 28-year-old man was also arrested for common assault and will be issued a court attendance notice.”
The Wests Tigers confirmed they are reviewing the matter and intend to take appropriate action.
“This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the club,” the Tigers said in a statement. “We extend our apologies to everyone affected, especially the injured police officers and others harmed in the incident.”
