Hagi’s Knee Injury Could Complicate Summer Transfer – Expert Analysis

Rangers forward Ianis Hagi’s recent knee injury could hinder a potential move away from the club this summer, according to physical therapy and sports science expert Dr Rajpal Brar.

Dr Brar has examined Hagi’s fitness history and contract status, noting that a summer departure appears likely with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

However, the Romanian international may struggle to pass a medical exam required for a transfer — even if it’s a free move — due to ongoing concerns about his fitness. There’s also a risk that previously unreported issues may be identified during the medical process.

“He seems to have suffered a contact-related knee injury after coming off the bench,” Dr Brar told Ibrox News. “Rehab will depend on the injury’s specifics, which are still unclear. His injury history could raise red flags during a medical, especially if something new is discovered. Clubs might also be reluctant to sign him if he doesn’t recover in the next couple of months.”

Rangers Might Offer Hagi a Short-Term Deal

Should incoming manager Davide Ancelotti — or whoever takes charge — see value in keeping Hagi, a one-year contract extension could be a practical solution.

Despite persistent injury setbacks, Hagi has demonstrated moments of creativity. A short-term deal would limit financial risk while giving the manager a chance to evaluate his role in a revamped squad under 49ers Enterprises.

His ability to operate across various attacking midfield roles adds depth to the team, potentially aiding Rangers’ domestic title ambitions and European efforts. A one-year deal would also support Hagi’s goal of re-establishing himself at Ibrox, fueling competition in key areas and potentially boosting his market value if he performs well.
