LeicestershireLive provides the most recent news on Leicester City as we assess the team’s performance thus far in the current season and their prospects of finishing in the Premier League.
Leicester City was always going to have a difficult season. The team faced a number of significant challenges, including a new league, a new manager, new players joining, and the possibility of losing points for breaking spending regulations.
Although the legal struggle over that possible Premier League fine ruled in favour of the Foxes, problems still exist. Steve Cooper and company’s top priority is still staying out of relegation.
The good news for Leicester is that they had already won a game this season, defeating Bournemouth 1-0 to give them a much-needed boost before the most recent international break. With six points from seven games, that puts them in 15th place, which is certainly much better than many fans and experts would have predicted, even this early in the new season.
However, the doubters continue to point to a May return to the Championship, and Cooper, the former manager of Nottingham Forest who was brought in to take over as promotion manager from Enzo Maresca, is still rather controversial.
Despite Cooper’s success in keeping the Foxes out of the drop zone thus far, the new man has been criticised most for his tactics and team choices. Fans, however, feel that City’s summer transfer business left a lot to be desired, even though Cooper was not directly to blame for it.
We are interested in your opinions as we have commissioned a survey to evaluate City’s advancements under Cooper thus far.
What are the main issues at Seagrave, and what steps does the club take to address them? Which of City’s summer hires have shown promise and which have not lived up to expectations thus far? Given how City has started the season, have your expectations changed? Where do you now think they will finish?
And how is Cooper honestly doing? Was this going to be a difficult assignment given his previous Forest association? Is he beginning to gain the support of the Foxes supporters?
Just a sampling of the questions are provided here, so feel free to add your thoughts about Leicester’s future. A week on Saturday, October 19, at 3pm, is when they continue their 2024–25 campaign at Southampton. We will compile your responses and provide you with the results at that time.
