Celtic have enjoyed another impressive season and will be eager to build on their continued success.
With the Scottish League Cup and Premiership already secured, a domestic Treble is within reach if they can defeat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.
Brendan Rodgers is still aiming to strengthen the squad, and a busy summer is anticipated. Premier League clubs are circling Daizen Maeda, while interest is growing in several other key players.
A striker remains a priority for Rodgers, but reinforcing the centre-back position should also be high on the agenda.
Maik Nawrocki, despite winning over many fans, appears likely to depart, and both Liam Scales and Auston Trusty have shown vulnerabilities. Cameron Carter-Vickers is the only guaranteed starter in central defence, and he would benefit from a partner of equal calibre to help elevate the team.
With that in mind, here are three centre-back options 67 Hail Hail believe Celtic should seriously consider:
Dara OāShea ā Ipswich Town
OāShea has long been linked with a move to Celtic, and the timing may now be right. Having endured consecutive Premier League relegations with Burnley and now Ipswich Town, the Republic of Ireland defender may be reluctant to drop to the Championship. A versatile player who can also cover at right-back, OāShea is admired by Rodgers and could finally be ready for a switch to Glasgow.
Ben Cabango ā Swansea City
Swansea captain Ben Cabango, 24, has steadily progressed through the ranks and is now a mainstay in the team. While he extended his contract in December 2024, modern football means deals are rarely a barrier. Compared to Carter-Vickers in style, Cabango could thrive alongside him and develop further under his influence. His leadership qualities would also help him cope with the demands at Celtic.
Wouter Goes ā AZ Alkmaar
The most ambitious option on the list, 20-year-old Wouter Goes is a rising star in the Eredivisie. Excelling at AZ Alkmaar, Goes already boasts over 100 senior appearances and would represent a major upgrade in defence. Celtic would need to act fast, as heās likely to attract attention from bigger clubs and could command a hefty feeāpotentially exceeding the Ā£11m paid for Arne Engels just a year ago.
