In an extraordinary show of loyalty rarely seen in the modern sporting era, Parramatta Eels superstar Josh Addo-Carr has revealed that he turned down a staggering $600 million offer from the Canterbury Bulldogs to stay with the Eels.

The explosive winger, who currently leads the Eels in tries this season with seven in just eight games, made the bombshell announcement during a press conference at CommBank Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

“I’ve made my decision, and my heart is with Parramatta,” Addo-Carr declared. “The Bulldogs came at me with an insane offer, something life-changing — $600 million. But for me, it’s not just about the money. It’s about legacy, loyalty, and where I feel I belong.”

The Bulldogs’ bid, reportedly structured over a five-year deal, would have made Addo-Carr the highest-paid player in rugby league history — surpassing even international codes. Sources close to the negotiations claim that the deal included luxury property incentives, equity shares in club ventures, and even an ambassadorial role post-retirement.

Despite the eye-watering offer, Addo-Carr said the decision to stay with the Eels was “easy.”

“I came here with a purpose. The Eels believed in me, gave me a fresh start, and I feel like I’ve got unfinished business here. I want to bring a title to this club, to these fans — they’ve been starved of success and they deserve something special.”

The 29-year-old, nicknamed “The Foxx,” joined Parramatta ahead of the 2025 season in a high-profile switch and has quickly become the Eels’ standout performer. His electric pace and finishing ability have made him a fan favourite and one of the few shining lights in a struggling Eels campaign.

Parramatta coach Jason Ryles praised Addo-Carr’s decision, calling it a “watershed moment” for the club.

“You don’t see this kind of loyalty often, especially in today’s game. It speaks volumes about who Josh is as a person, not just a player,” Ryles said. “This sends a message to the rest of the league — Parramatta is building something, and we’ve got players who are ready to fight for that vision.”

Fans erupted on social media with praise for Addo-Carr, calling him a “club legend in the making” and hailing his decision as “one for the history books.” Hashtags like #FoxxForever and #LoyaltyLives trended nationwide on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs, who had hoped to lure the try-scoring machine back to Belmore, are reportedly “stunned and disappointed” by the decision but have already shifted their recruitment focus elsewhere.

For now, Josh Addo-Carr remains blue and gold — and for Eels fans, that’s worth more than any price tag.

“I’m here to win, to inspire, and to give back to this club,” Addo-Carr said with a smile. “Parra’s my home. Let’s build something great.”
