Don Goodman has backed Norwich City’s interest in Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo, describing him as a smart potential signing for the summer.

Football League World has exclusively reported that Norwich are one of two clubs targeting the 29-year-old full-back, with Coventry City also in the running. Toffolo has struggled for minutes at Forest this season, making only four appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo, as the club chases a Champions League spot.

Goodman believes left-back is an area Norwich need to address and sees Toffolo as a strong fit for the style of football the team is likely to adopt next season.

“I think Harry Toffolo would be a brilliant addition to Norwich City,” Goodman told Football League World. “It’s a position where they’ve lacked depth and real strength. Callum Doyle covered there last season, but he’s naturally a central defender, not a left-back.

“Toffolo is a more traditional left-sided full-back, with experience at a high level and the ability to get forward and contribute offensively. That aligns with the style I expect Norwich to play. It would be a good deal for both the player and the club.”

Toffolo joined Forest from Huddersfield Town in 2022 after their promotion to the Premier League. He made 19 and 23 appearances across his first two top-flight campaigns, helping the team stay up in consecutive seasons. But his involvement has diminished under the current manager, leaving the door open for a move.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season and game time limited, Toffolo is expected to become a free agent. This makes him an attractive option for Championship clubs looking for proven experience.

The left-back was instrumental during Huddersfield’s run to the 2022 Championship play-off final — ironically losing to Forest — and still has plenty to offer at this level. His potential availability on a free transfer makes him a low-risk, high-reward signing for clubs like Norwich.
