It’s possible that certain Rangers favourites may be returning to Ibrox.
As he starts a new position as technical director, Nils Koppen has disclosed that some Rangers heroes are being pursued for club returns.
He will be in charge of Rangers’ Academy, medical, football operations, performance, and analysis departments in addition to overseeing the club’s transfer strategy in his current role as Director of Recruitment.
Rangers currently lack a dedicated academy head and haven’t given any Premiership minutes to Scottish players younger than 21. As he announced his youth production masterplan, Koppen disclosed that Rangers stars from the past will be sought after under his rule.
“I think we have to fill the key positions within the academy first to ensure that we’ll be ready for the future,” he said on Rangers TV. and that by producing players that make it to the first team, we can be a successful academy.I believe that the academy has already produced a great deal of work in recent years. However, we are not content with the academy’s overall output.
“We still need to make progress or take action. In order for our own academy players to advance to the first team, we must continue to make space. We can accomplish that by improving the first team’s squad build-up, which will allow them to participate and step up. To retain our finest talent, I believe one of the goals will continue to be to sign the greatest players in Scotland. We already have many talented people in the building, I’m sure.
“The B team presents a challenge to us. Since we’re not the best platform, it is our responsibility to make sure the lads in our club get the best possibilities and challenges. Our goal is to reduce age so that the first team can advance and make their breakthrough. By forming strategic alliances with other clubs, we want to achieve that.
By bringing the athletes on at a younger age, we are altering our own mindset. Give them the chance to demonstrate themselves and take the appropriate actions at the appropriate times by exposing them to the first team training environment. We should also remember that we are a Scottish club, in my opinion. We need to focus more on preparing players for the Scottish game in general as well as for our first team in particular.
“That if they are unable to succeed here as a professional, they will still be able to play professional football at the highest level in Scotland.” We need to make that better. To boost that degree of DNA and detail, one of the things I’m considering is possibly bringing in some former Rangers players. Players who have been in this building, participated in it, and understand its purpose. That will be a crucial factor in the years to come.
