Rangers have been linked with a potential move for veteran striker Jamie Vardy, who is expected to leave Leicester City at the end of June.
In anticipation of the possible transfer, injury analyst Dr. Rajpal Brar has evaluated the 38-year-old’s fitness, offering a positive outlook. With Vardy’s contract set to expire following Leicester’s relegation, the former England international is unlikely to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.
Vardy Expected to Pass Medical Without Concerns
Despite recent knee problems, Vardy is not anticipated to encounter difficulties during a pre-transfer medical. According to Dr. Brar, Rangers, who are reportedly keen on signing the forward on a free transfer (as reported by the Daily Mail, 2 June, p. 69), should not face medical complications.
“While the club may monitor his knee history for signs of wear and tear, his performances in recent seasons suggest no significant musculoskeletal concerns,” Dr. Brar told Ibrox News.
Dr. Brar also believes Vardy’s age shouldn’t hinder his adaptation to the Scottish Premiership: “He featured in 35 Premier League games last season, which is remarkable at his age. I wouldn’t expect major issues with the transition.”
A Smart Short-Term Addition for Rangers
Though now 38, Vardy still possesses the qualities to make a big impact at Ibrox. His record of nine goals and four assists in a struggling Leicester side last season reflects his ongoing threat in front of goal.
Rangers could benefit significantly by offering Vardy a two-year contract, which would not only give them a short-term attacking boost but also provide valuable experience and mentorship for younger players in the squad.
Under Russell Martin’s possession-heavy system, Vardy’s sharp movement, intelligent pressing, and leadership could prove vital in their efforts to reclaim domestic glory from arch-rivals Celtic.
Adding a player of Vardy’s calibre—one with Premier League experience and a hunger for trophies—would signal Rangers’ ambition and energize both the dressing room and the fanbase.
