Norwich City are close to finalizing a deal to sign goalkeeper Louie Moulden, according to The Pink Un.

The Canaries are preparing for a crucial summer as they aim to close the gap on the Championship’s promotion contenders. With a rebuild now underway under new manager Liam Manning, who arrived from Bristol City following Jack Wilshere’s brief spell as interim boss, the club is reshaping its squad for the future.

One area receiving particular attention is the goalkeeping department. As reported by The Pink Un, Norwich are on the verge of completing the signing of 23-year-old Louie Moulden, who is currently a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace. Moulden is expected to join the club this week and will likely serve as the third-choice goalkeeper.

Moulden’s Career Path

The Bolton-born shot-stopper has experienced a nomadic start to his career, spending time in the youth setups at both Liverpool and Manchester City. He also featured regularly for England at youth level before moving to Wolves in 2021, where he gained valuable senior experience through a series of loan spells at clubs including Ebbsfleet United, Solihull Moors, Rochdale, and Northampton Town.

After leaving Wolves last summer, Moulden joined Crystal Palace and spent the season with their U21 side. Now, he looks set to begin a new chapter at Carrow Road.

Reshaping the Goalkeeping Unit

This summer is shaping up to be a period of major transition at Norwich City, particularly in the goalkeeping ranks. With first-choice keeper Angus Gunn set to leave when his contract expires, and the futures of George Long, Vicente Reyes, and Daniel Barden up in the air, significant changes are expected.

Moulden will become the second goalkeeper to arrive this summer following the signing of Dan Grimshaw. However, Norwich are still believed to be in the market for one more addition in the position as Manning looks to establish his identity and lay solid foundations for the future.

The hope is that these new arrivals will be the first of many under Manning’s leadership, as the Canaries aim to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the Championship once again.
