Norwich City has had a very patchy start to the season.
As they try to establish themselves under the new manager, the Canaries are presently going through a bit of a transitional phase at the club.
A new era at Carrow Road began in May when 35-year-old Johannes Hoff Thorup took over as manager. Since then, Thorup’s results have been erratic as he attempts to adjust to life in England and the Championship, which is perhaps the most difficult league in the world.
His Norwich team has only won four of their first 15 league games this season, placing them in 14th place in the standings. They have already lost three straight games, but they will be looking to turn things around this weekend when they visit West Brom, who are vying for promotion.
Since he has scored about half of the Canaries’ league goals this season, Borja Sainz has been outstanding, but they are practically depending on him.
It will be necessary for Norwich to work together more if they want to place higher in the table. Although they are dealing with offensive injuries, it is hoped that they will become better as the season progresses.
Over the past ten years, Norwich has signed some true stars, and their supporters will be hoping that one or two of them are still with the team this year.
A Norwich City supporter would bring Pukki and Buendia back.
The topic of which past players would fit into this team and help it improve is raised by Norwich’s recent poor performance. Zeke Downes, a fan commentator for FLW’s Canaries, offers two catchy names.
“It would be fantastic if we could get Emi Buendia back because there is a right wing slot available for him. It would be ideal.
“His pushing, output, and defensive skills would make him an excellent addition to the squad, but that is unlikely to occur at all.
“Getting Teemu Pukki back on loan is something that would be more likely. Many members of the team know him, and we need a temporary solution because he’s having a little more trouble in the MLS these days.
“I would be thrilled if he were to get some game time near the conclusion of his career if that’s what he’s looking for.
“I don’t think either of those will, though.”
The period that Buendia and Pukki spent at Carrow Road
Both Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia contributed to some of Norwich City’s most memorable moments under manager Daniel Farke. The club signed both players in the summer of 2018 in anticipation of an extremely thrilling Championship season.
Buendia and Pukki scored 59 league goals between them as Norwich won the Championship and advanced to the Premier League in the 2018–19 campaign.
A total of 61 league goals were scored by Buendia and Pukki during the 2020–21 season, which saw Norwich win the Championship title once more.
Both Buendia and Pukki had a significant impact on the Canaries’ dominance in the Championship, despite their struggles in the Premier League under Farke.
The pair’s appearance in a Canaries shirt this season would be greatly appreciated by Norwich City supporters.
