Scott Allan’s assertion that Rangers could need six or seven transfers to contend for the Scottish Premiership astounded Peter Martin.
Rangers are now in third place in the league, nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen, after a dismal start to the season.
Nevertheless, despite their sluggish start, host Peter Martin was shocked when Allan, a former Celtic midfielder, mentioned how many players Philippe Clement still needs to contend for the championship.
Allan stated on PLZ’s The Football Show: “I think they need another six, seven to challenge for the league.”
Martin expressed his astonishment at the assertion with a frustrated tone, asking, “Six or seven? Rangers?
However, the 32-year-old went on to explain his position, saying, “I’m not saying win it.” to provide Rangers with an opportunity to run. With the team and roster they currently have, I wouldn’t be sure Rangers could go five league games without losing with five victories.
Rangers will face an uphill task, according to Allan.
With his appraisal of the change he believes the Light Blues need to make in order to have a shot at winning the championship, Allan was not holding back in his criticism of the present Rangers team.
Martin was first taken aback by these allegations, but when you consider the job at hand and the significant points difference between the Gers and the top of the league, it is clear that many things need to alter for the pitch to improve.
