It would surprise Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor if Brendan Rodgers left Celtic to take Julen Lopetegui’s place at West Ham.

With the Hammers in fourteenth place and just five points above the relegation zone after the first eleven games of the Premier League season, Lopetegui is currently under pressure at the London Stadium.

However, after a few strong Champions League performances recently, Rodgers may be poised to guide Celtic to yet another Scottish Premiership title.

Brazil made the following statement while live on talkSPORT [November 21, 6:10am]: “Last night, I received a text message stating that Brendan [Rodgers] for West Ham… What? Rodgers, Brendan? With Celtic performing the way they are, he cannot go.

“Not with Celtic’s Champions League performance,” Agbonlahor retorted. He’s not going anywhere because they have a chance to make it to the playoffs.

Before Agbonhlahor finally stated, “I don’t think they’ll sack Lopetegui yet though,” Brazil said, “I don’t know if it’s just my mate winding me up because he is a Celtic fan or he’s heard something.” They’ll probably grant him more time.

West Ham United to acquire Brendan Rodgers?

Finding a replacement would be the most challenging aspect of firing the new head coach at this stage of the season, even though Hammers supporters are already becoming more and more irate with him.

Rodgers has only been back in Scotland since the summer of 2023, therefore it is extremely unlikely that he will depart for East London given how successful Celtic could have this season.

After leaving the Hoops for Leicester City in April 2023, the 51-year-old’s return to Celtic Park was met with a great deal of criticism, and it is hard to imagine him making the same error twice.

Lopetegui will have to keep pushing because the Hammers don’t currently provide any perks that would entice him to the Premier League, and the Scottish team has access to Champions League football.

With so many good players at his disposal right now, the Spaniard will be under tremendous pressure to turn things around at the London Stadium.
