According to the Pink Un, Norwich City has brought Rhys Walters of Port Vale in for a trial as they contemplate a deal for the midfield player.

Now that the most recent international break is coming to an end, Norwich City’s attention is on the pitch.

As they attempt to regain their form in the Championship, the Canaries must contend with the demanding winter schedule. Though three straight losses prior to the break dampened spirits, there have been encouraging signs under Johannes Hoff Thorup.

While improving their dismal performance will be the top priority, Carrow Road’s back office will also be keeping an eye on winter recruitment. It appears that they are now considering a new prospect.

According to the Pink Un, teenage midfielder Rhys Walters has been given a trial by Norwich City.

The 19-year-old has played for other teams, but on Wednesday night he made his appearance for the Canaries’ U21 team, playing 60 minutes in a Premier League Cup loss to Exeter City. It follows Walters’ rejection of a new Port Vale contract at the end of the previous campaign.

Although an exit has not been confirmed, it appears that Walters is searching for a new position.

Additional information about Walters

Although there is uncertainty around Walters’ status at Port Vale, it appears that he can leave the League Two team now that he is on trial at Norwich City.

The midfielder has made 22 professional appearances for the Valiants despite only turning 19 earlier this week. He appears to be one of the players hailed for a bright future, and the team has a solid record for nurturing new talent.

In addition to his typical central midfield position, he has been used in more attacking roles, playing out on the wing and even up front. He spent a large portion of his early career playing for the Canaries at the latter.

Youngsters to watch

Through their academy or by bringing in young players from other teams, Norwich City frequently integrates young players into their first squad. Since coming from Bromley, Kellen Fisher has gained a lot of popularity.

Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons, and Jamal Lewis all rose to prominence at the same time in a golden patch at Carrow Road, and they will be looking to duplicate that achievement in the years to come.

It remains to be seen if Walters can impress Port Vale enough to warrant a trial and secure a deal at Carrow Road.
