Norwich City Ready to Splash €2M for ‘Dangerous Winger’ Tom Ince in Bold Championship Swoop

Norwich City are poised to make a surprise €2 million bid for Watford winger Tom Ince, with the Canaries hoping to add the experienced attacker to their frontline ahead of the new Championship season.

The 32-year-old, widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted and unpredictable wingers in the division, is attracting fresh interest after a strong campaign at Vicarage Road where he contributed 8 goals and 6 assists in all competitions. With Liam Manning desperate to inject more creativity and end-product into his wide areas, Ince has emerged as a priority signing, despite being under contract at Watford until 2026.

Club insiders suggest that Norwich are prepared to pay up to €2 million to bring the former England U21 international to Carrow Road. Manning, is understood to be a key figure driving the move, having been impressed by the winger’s professionalism, versatility, and ability to deliver in high-pressure matches.

“Tom is a dangerous winger who still has the ability to change a game on his own,” a source close to Norwich’s recruitment team told East Anglia Football News. “He can play on either flank, carry the ball at pace, and has a real eye for goal. We’re looking at experienced leaders who can help our younger players — Tom ticks every box.”

Ince, the son of former Manchester United and England star Paul Ince, has enjoyed a nomadic but productive career, turning out for the likes of Blackpool, Derby County, Huddersfield Town, Reading, Stoke City and now Watford. His experience across top-flight and second-tier football makes him an ideal candidate for a Norwich side aiming to push back into the Premier League after missing out on promotion last season.

While Watford have not officially responded to Norwich’s approach, the Hornets are believed to be open to selling — particularly given Ince’s significant wages and the club’s shift toward youth recruitment this summer. With Watford undergoing a rebuild under new head coach Kjetil Knutsen, cashing in on Ince could free up funds for other targets.

Norwich are not the only club monitoring Ince’s situation, with sources suggesting that Cardiff City and Hull City have also expressed interest, albeit at a lower valuation. However, Norwich’s willingness to spend €2 million outright could quickly give them the upper hand in the race for his signature.

Should the move go through, Ince would become Norwich’s second major signing of the window following the arrival of centre-back Harry Darling from Swansea City. The club also continues to pursue further reinforcements in midfield and at full-back, as they prepare for a grueling Championship campaign under Manning.

“This club has a proud history and Premier League ambition,” the source added. “Signing Tom Ince would send a clear message that we mean business.”

With the transfer window heating up and Manning keen to finalise his squad before pre-season concludes, Norwich fans may not have to wait long to see one of the Championship’s most skilful attackers don the yellow and green.
