If Norwich City were able to get Bright Osayi-Samuel from Fenerbahçe, Carlton Palmer thinks it would be a wise move.

Under Johannes Hoff Thorup, the Canaries are having a successful season thus far as they aim to return to the Premier League.

This comes after a particularly hectic window in which Norwich had to deal with a number of high-profile departures, including the exits of Jon Rowe, Adam Idah, and Gabriel Sara. Fans will be hoping that the recruitment team will have funds available in the New Year to strengthen even more, as those sales did finance some new hires.

Interested in Bright Osayi-Samuel, Norwich City

Important club players may already be keeping an eye on the January transfer window, as reports from Turkey indicate they are vying with Lens for Osayi-Samuel.

The English football community is familiar with the Nigerian international from his time at QPR, but he has remade himself as a full-back for the Istanbul powerhouse.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Osayi-Samuel’s circumstances have somewhat altered as a result of José Mourinho’s hiring, since he is no longer a given to start and has seen his playing time limited due to injury.

Bright Osayi-Samuel, in Carlton Palmer’s opinion, would help Norwich City.

Although there is still months until the window opens, former England international Palmer told FLW that Osayi-Samuel would strengthen the team and emphasised the importance of bolstering Carrow Road’s depth chart.

“He used to be a winger at QPR, but he moved back to full-back playing for Fenerbahce.” He can play down the right wing and has a lot of energy and unpredictable play.

“I think it would be a great move for Norwich if they can get him back.” He has won the cup since coming to Turkey, and they have been a constant threat at the top of the league.

“It depends on the kind of money they would have to pay, but he can work in two roles and has expertise, which would be beneficial for Throup. However, Norwich is now in seventh place in the Championship, so it would be a great opportunity.

“They need to examine this area, and adding players with his calibre and experience would be beneficial, as Norwich’s options are limited to their first 11 players.”

For Norwich City to push for promotion, they will need quality.

Even though there is still a lot of football to be played until January, Norwich is currently in a strong position and the players are totally supporting the new manager after a challenging start.

The squad plays with a distinct style, is formidable going forward, and currently has two of the best players in the Championship in Josh Sargent and, more especially, Borja Sainz.

The Canaries should thus anticipate contending for a play-off spot at least this year, though the January window may prove crucial.

Palmer is right when he says that Norwich doesn’t have the same depth as some of their competitors, so adding two or three good players throughout the window might help them stay competitive.

In that regard, Osayi-Samuel most definitely meets the criteria, and if they could get him into the club before the window closes, that would be a huge coup.
