Former Sunderland manager Jack Ross has disclosed that Wear-Tyne rivals Newcastle United have given him a new position.

After being appointed in the summer of 2018, the Scot led the Black Cats for just under eighteen months, trying to assist the team recover after being relegated to League One.

In tragic circumstances, Ross’s first and only complete season at the Stadium of Light came to an end as Sunderland lost to Charlton Athletic in the play-off final, crushing any hopes of an instant return to the Championship.

Within the first two months of the new season, his departure was officially announced, with the Black Cats sitting in sixth place in League One.

Ross went on to manage Hibs and Dundee United before returning to the North East in March of last year to take on the role of interim head of coach development at Newcastle. A few months after assuming that post permanently, Ross has now risen to a crucial new position in the St. James’s Park hierarchy.

“I am happy to share that I am starting a new position as Head of Strategic Technical Partnerships at Newcastle United Football Club,” the former Black Cats manager announced on LinkedIn.

Prospect for the Black Cats shines on loan Adam Richardson, a young player for Sunderland, has received recognition for his performance while on loan at Hebburn Town in the Northern Premier League.

Since joining the Hornets last month, the youth goalkeeper has made three appearances. He assisted Daniel Moore’s team in winning two league games against Hyde United and Lancaster City before to their FA Trophy elimination against FC United of Manchester last weekend. The Hornets manager said he is excited to talk to Sunderland about maybe extending Richardson’s initial one-month loan. He also acknowledged that he has been impressed by the impact Richardson has made while on South Tyneside.

The main thing, he told The Echo, has been his mindset. He has really accepted men’s football and how it differs from youth football. The most important thing you want to see in a young man from the background he has come from is that he is having fun. He is a calm presence, very skilled in his field, and has a strong work ethic. The way he conducts himself both on and off the pitch makes it clear why he is at Sunderland.

It would help Kieran (Hunter, the Hebburn custodian) to have more time to heal from a minor ligament problem, so perhaps we can try to keep him. He seems to be having fun, and I believe he wants to stay so that we can work with Sunderland to resolve his situation and keep him here for the upcoming month or two.

An Academy Award winner can “thrive” at Sunderland Since Tommy Watson, a winger, started to regularly appear in first-team lineups since the beginning of the season, another young player from Sunderland has made an impression in recent weeks.

The teenager has started off the bench in Sunderland’s last three Championship games after putting on a number of impressive performances for the Black Cats Under-21s and during senior preseason games. Earlier this week, he made his Under-21 debut by scoring twice in a 6-0 victory over Derby County.
