Nuri Sahin laments Borussia Dortmund’s failure to “kill the game” in Gladbach draw
Nuri Sahin expressed his frustration as Borussia Dortmund dropped more points away from home, settling for a 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Dortmund’s quest for their first away win of the Bundesliga season continues after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening. The Black and Yellows went ahead in the second half with a goal from Jamie Gittens, but a penalty conceded by Pascal Groß soon after allowed Gladbach to level the score.
Nuri Sahin reflects on Borussia Dortmund’s latest away defeat
Nuri Sahin’s team created several opportunities but struggled to finish in the final third. The BVB head coach expressed disappointment over their failure to seal the victory after taking the lead in the 64th minute.
“Very, very frustrating – especially here, because the one thing I can blame us for is not finishing the game,” Sahin told Sky Sport after the match.
“I knew it wouldn’t be easy in Gladbach against a strong team, but after going 1-0 up and being in control, we needed to score the second goal and we didn’t. That really frustrates me! For me, this feels almost worse than our other away defeats. But we must learn from it, and we will.”
