Former FIFA referee Keith Hackett has urged the Scottish FA to engage with Rangers following Danilo’s goal celebration during the team’s 3-0 victory over Ross County on Sunday, 8 December.

Danilo scored Rangers’ second goal of the match and celebrated by sitting on the advertising boards near the away section. Hackett believes the celebration was unsafe and warranted a yellow card under the rules of the game.

Speaking to Ibrox News, Hackett explained, “The referee should have intervened and issued a caution for his actions. The law was introduced to prevent players from going into the crowd, as it can create surges that risk injuries to supporters at the front. I was surprised no action was taken, and I hope the Scottish FA will remind the club that such celebrations are a bookable offence.”

Rangers cruised to victory against Ross County, with an early goal from Hamza Igamane setting the tone. Danilo capitalized on a goalkeeping error to double the lead before James Tavernier secured the win with a third goal.

The victory gives Rangers momentum ahead of crucial upcoming fixtures against Tottenham in the Europa League and Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final. However, Hackett’s comments suggest that Danilo’s celebration, while well-received by traveling fans, could have resulted in an unnecessary booking had the referee strictly applied the rules.
