Tottenham Hotspur return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a trip to Glasgow to face Rangers at Ibrox.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou will make a notable return to the city where he enjoyed significant success during his two-year stint at Celtic, winning five domestic trophies, including two Scottish Premiership titles, before moving to North London.
Postecoglou faces growing pressure after Tottenham’s 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, marking their fourth consecutive game without a win. Spurs’ last victory came on November 23 against Manchester City. In their most recent Europa League match, Tottenham drew 2-2 with AS Roma, with former Dortmund defender Mats Hummels scoring a stoppage-time equalizer for the Italian side. Spurs have secured three wins from their opening five games in the competition and currently sit ninth in the group, just behind Rangers on goal difference.
Rangers Injury Update
Rangers’ injury list is less extensive than Tottenham’s but still features key players. Neraysho Kasanwirjo is ruled out for several months, while Oscar Cortes, Rabbi Matondo, and Tom Lawrence have resumed training. Cortes and Matondo are more likely to feature on Thursday, while Lawrence is still regaining full fitness. Last week, Rangers manager Philippe Clement confirmed: “Neraysho Kasanwirjo won’t be available for the next couple of months. Tom Lawrence is training individually.”
Tottenham Hotspur Injury Update
Spurs are dealing with multiple fitness concerns. Cristian Romero lasted only 14 minutes against Chelsea before experiencing quad discomfort, compounding his recovery from a toe injury. Brennan Johnson left the same match due to illness, while Micky van de Ven was substituted after feeling tightness, though Postecoglou downplayed the severity of both issues.
Ben Davies remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained against Bournemouth, with no clear timeline for his return. Additionally, Guglielmo Vicario, Mikey Moore, Richarlison, and Wilson Odobert are expected to miss the trip to Glasgow.
