In the Chicago Bears’ Week 6 thumping of the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, the offence was outstanding, but tight end Cole Kmet was the standout player.

Given that rookie quarterback Caleb Williams led Chicago to at least 35 points for the second straight week and completed 23 of 29 throws for four touchdowns, that is quite an accomplishment. Kmet had five total grabs for 70 yards by the end of the day, including two of those scores.

However, what really made the tight end stand out on Sunday, October 13, was when he took over for injured long snapper Scott Daly, making NFL history in the process.

The NFL’s first long snapper to score two touchdowns in a half is Cole Kmet. In an X post, Pete Byrne of CBS and FOX Sports reported, “Yes, you read that right.”

This season, Kmet has caught 26 passes on 29 targets for 289 yards and three touchdowns.

Caleb Williams’ Relationships With Pass Catchers Are Growing

With a 4-2 record going into their bye week, Chicago’s offence has been playing at a high level for the last two games.

To be fair, those two games were against two of the league’s poorest teams, the Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers, but Williams has demonstrated that he is getting along with his pass catchers throughout the offence.

Keenan Allen, a wide receiver who has missed two games this season due to a heel issue he has had since the preseason, had his first significant performance with five catches for 41 yards and the other two touchdowns off of Williams.

Wide receiver DJ Moore had a stellar game the week before at Solider Field against the Panthers, recording five receptions, 105 yards, and two touchdowns. According to ESPN, Kmet and rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze each had more over 200 yards receiving, while Moore led the club going into Week 6 with 294 yards.

Running back D’Andre Swift, one of the team’s top offseason free agent acquisitions, has scored a rushing touchdown in each of the last three games, indicating that the running game has also improved.

After consecutive performances of 73 yards against Carolina and a season-high 93 rushing yards against the Los Angeles Rams, he concluded the game against Jacksonville with 91 yards and a touchdown.
