Rangers are reportedly targeting a January move for Falkirk right-back Keelen Adams, according to Football Insider.
The 23-year-old has been in excellent form this season, playing a key role in helping John McGlynn’s side lead the Scottish Championship. Adams impressed Rangers’ scouts, led by head scout Nils Koppen, during Falkirk’s 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers on December 7, where he also scored.
Rangers see Adams as a potential successor to captain James Tavernier, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. Despite being under scrutiny for inconsistent performances this season, Tavernier delivered a strong showing in Rangers’ recent 1-1 Europa League draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
Adams fits the profile of a young, promising player who could develop further and potentially be sold for profit in the future. However, Rangers face stiff competition from Leeds United and Swansea City, both of whom are monitoring the player and have greater financial resources. With just over a year left on his contract, Adams is expected to attract significant attention during the January transfer window.
Adams’ journey in football began in Glasgow, playing for Glasgow University and later Cumbernauld CFC in 2023. Despite being released by Rangers and later Hearts as a youth player, he has worked his way up through the Scottish football ranks. His recent performances have sparked speculation about a potential call-up to the national team if he continues to excel and secures a high-profile move.
Tavernier’s Future in Question
Rangers’ interest in Adams coincides with growing uncertainty over Tavernier’s future at Ibrox. The 33-year-old, linked with a move to Al-Ettifaq under his former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, could be nearing the end of his time with the club.
Having been a mainstay since joining from Wigan Athletic nearly a decade ago, Tavernier has contributed three goals and six assists in 25 appearances this season. However, questions over his form and age have fueled speculation about a possible departure.
