Sheffield United have intensified their pursuit of Stoke City striker Tom Cannon with a formal £7m bid, according to sources at Football Insider.
Sunderland have also shown interest in Cannon, who is currently on loan from Leicester City.
Sheffield United Target Tom Cannon to Strengthen Attack
Currently third in the Championship, Sheffield United are pushing for promotion to the Premier League. However, their recent form has dipped, with only one win in their last four games. They trail leaders Leeds United by just two points and were recently eliminated from the FA Cup by Cardiff City.
Adding Cannon to their squad would bolster their attacking options alongside Ryan Oné and Rhian Brewster. However, any potential deal would require Leicester City to terminate Cannon’s current loan spell at Stoke.
While Leicester City have avoided sanctions under Profit and Sustainability Rules, a £7m permanent transfer could appeal to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, providing financial flexibility.
