Borussia Dortmund legend Nuri Sahin bid a heartfelt farewell to fans, marking the end of an era for the Turkish midfielder and the club he has long called home. The 36-year-old, who began his professional career with Dortmund, announced his departure in an emotional address following the team’s recent match at Signal Iduna Park.

Sahin, widely regarded as a symbol of Dortmund’s resurgence in the 2010s, thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout his career. “This club is my family, and the yellow wall has always been my greatest strength. Leaving is not easy, but it’s time for a new chapter,” he said, his voice breaking with emotion.

The midfielder joined Dortmund’s academy at the age of 12 and made history as the youngest player to debut in the Bundesliga at 16. He played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s 2010-2011 league title win and became a fan favorite for his technical skills, vision, and loyalty.

Though Sahin had stints with Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Werder Bremen, Dortmund always remained his home. His return to the club in 2013 was met with immense joy from fans, cementing his legacy as a beloved figure.

As he steps away from Dortmund, Sahin hinted at pursuing coaching opportunities, potentially following in the footsteps of his mentors. Fans responded with standing ovations and banners celebrating his contributions to the club.

For Dortmund supporters, Sahin’s departure marks the end of an era but also solidifies his place as one of the club’s most cherished figures. As he moves on, his legacy at Borussia Dortmund remains eternal.
