Victor Orta may have just given the 49ers a substantial sum of money from a prior transfer, but he is no longer with Leeds United.
Leeds supporters continue to wait for a transfer as Daniel Farke’s assurance of a quiet window proves to be true.
However, given that Farke has been discussing the possibility of temporary fixes at the club with Paraag Marathe, there may be things happening behind the scenes.
Although there doesn’t appear to be any firm news regarding Leeds acquiring a new player, Orta, the previous director of football, may have given Leeds anything following a transfer decision.
a choice made in 2023 that might help Leeds supporters’ aspirations for new players.
Leeds United may receive a surprise financial boost from the £7 million transaction.
Mateusz Bogusz, a Polish attacker, made just three appearances for the first team during his rather poor tenure at Elland Road.
Before permanently joining LAFC in 2023, the 23-year-old spent four seasons in Yorkshire.
Bogusz has had tremendous success since leaving; he played well for the MLS team and scored 16 goals the previous season. In addition, he made his debut for Poland on the international scene.
According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, all of these factors have now resulted in Bogusz being the target of a trade worth more than £7 million from Mexican team Cruz Azul.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds included a sell-on clause in the agreement that brought Bogusz to the MLS, so they stand to gain financially if the forward makes his most recent move.
Bogusz’s financial boost might make it possible for Leeds to sign players.
Even though Bogusz was sold permanently, Orta obviously liked the striker enough to include a sell-on provision.
Leeds’ ability to sign players may be impacted by the clause, depending on how big of a percentage it is.
Leeds hasn’t brought anyone in this January, but it doesn’t appear to be for financial reasons; rather, a more sustainable approach is being adopted.
But as the Bogusz deal seems to close, Marathe may have to keep his word about taking a “aggressive” approach to transfers.
