The midfielder is getting ready to go to Scotland.
Hearts and SK Brann have agreed to the transfer of Sander Kartum, a midfield player. Before signing a contract at Tynecastle Park, the Norwegian is anticipated to travel to Edinburgh within the next day to undergo a medical examination.

The £320,000 deal is expected to be finalised within the next few days. The 29-year-old Kartum will then need a UK work permit before he can start working in Scotland. The club was willing to sell Kartum because he is keen to try his hand at British football, even though his Brann contract is set to expire in 2026.

He is known for moving forward to create and score goals as a midfielder. He can play wide or as a No. 10 and was frequently used on the right of a three-man central midfield at Brann. Kartum joined Brann in 2023 and has a left foot. In August, he participated in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds against St Mirren. He assisted Brann in placing second in the 2024 Eliteserien, securing the team a spot in this summer’s Champions League qualifying rounds.

Kartum should be officially confirmed as a Hearts player before the end of the week, assuming the medical is uneventful. Additionally, the team is trying to finalise the signing of Swedish team IFK Varnamo’s Austrian centre-back Michael Steinwender. There are still talks going on with Islam Chesnokov, the winger for Kazakhstan.

Hearts’ first two acquisitions at the beginning of the January transfer window were Scottish centre-back Jamie McCart and Belgian striker Elton Kabangu. Steinwender and Kartum would take the tally to four, with some hurdles still to clear if Chesnokov is to be next in line.
