Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked to Celtic for more than a year.
Ever since Brendan Rodgers rejoined Celtic in the summer of 2023, Kvistgaarden’s name appears to come up.
After acquiring Rennes’ Hoops hero Jota last week, the Celtic boss is still seeking to add his second January signing of the year.
However, as the Swedish team shared pictures from their training camp in Portugal today, it appears that Celtic’s connection to the Brondby attacker is over, at least for January.
Since Brondby is presently on winter vacation and rumors about Kvistgaarden joining Celtic are practically at an all-time high, a social media post will probably put an end to January rumors.
Brondby wrote on X, “Training is starting today.”
Kvistgaarden can be seen in the picture with his back to the cameraman and the post effectively shuts down any hope that Celtic fans may have had in capturing the young Danish forward.
On the last day of January, Celtic reportedly had “full swing” negotiations to sign Kvistgaarden.
Craig Moore, a former Rangers player, predicted that the young Dane will join Celtic with Jota when he was being discussed about moving to Glasgow.
“As a player, I can’t really do anything else but do the best I possibly can – whether it’s for one place or another,” Kvistgaarden remarked in response to the Celtic rumors. That is the current situation.
“You can read and hear a lot about it, of course, but I try to ignore it as much as I can and just focus on training here every day.”
The Kvistgaarden conversation with Celtic appears to be done for the time being, at least, but there is still hope since the summer transfer market will open in less than three months.
