On Wednesday night, Celtic is getting ready for its rescheduled Premiership matchup with Dundee.
Due to Celtic’s poor performance in the transfer market and inability to acquire the necessary additional quality, all eyes were on the transfer deadline on Monday.
With Brendan Rodgers’ team attempting to extend their advantage at the top of the table to 13 points, that will be the talk of the town ahead of this Dundee match at Parkhead.
Additionally, it occurs one week prior to Celtic’s Champions League matchup with Bayern Munich.
The champions have had a demanding week on the road, beginning with their journey to Villa Park last Wednesday night and ending with Jota’s flawless comeback against Motherwell at Fir Park over the weekend.
The fact that all of those games were away likely explains why nobody showed up for Celtic’s Tuesday afternoon training at Lennoxtown.
On Tuesday, Gordon Duncan was live-streaming from Lennoxtown, where the Celtic players were training, and Rodgers appeared to be in a good mood following that January transfer window. However, the Sky reporter pointed out that Kasper Schmeichel was not present at training, stating that the 38-year-old has previously been given “extra rest,” which may have been the cause of his absence, Sky Sports News (04/02/25 at 3:40 pm).
In light of the fact that Celtic cannot afford to be without Schmeichel before that crucial Bayern match, Duncan did add that he would ask Rodgers “if there is anything worth noting” about his lack of training.
As the images switched to the Celtic players engaging in some light exercise, Duncan remarked, “If we take a look at the players that are here at Lennoxtown this afternoon.”
“Kasper Schmeichel isn’t training out there, but it does happen occasionally. He receives more rest than a player his age. As Brendan Rodgers has previously informed us, we will examine his absence to determine if there is anything noteworthy.
Schmeichel has adapted to Glasgow life like a duck to water, despite having large shoes to fill when Joe Hart departed.
With a Premier League championship, an FA Cup winners medal, and a wealth of European and international experience, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
With three clean sheets in the Champions League and fewer than a goal per game allowed by the champions, Schmeichel is currently on track to capture the Treble.
