During the winter transfer window, a number of clubs expressed interest in the Celtic-linked striker, but Brondby resisted and managed to hold onto the 22-year-old. While confirming that clubs did approach him, Andersen stated that he wanted to see the striker depart for between 100 million kroner and £11 million. Celtic and Brondby had discussions regarding a deal for Kvistgaarden as Brendan Rodgers sought to replace Kyogo Furuhashi.

“It was absolutely our intention to retain him for the remainder of the season,” Andersen told Tipsbladet. He has been the subject of numerous questions, including on the penultimate and last days.

However, we had a productive conversation about our shared goals with Kvistgaarden and his agency. He was supposed to perform for us in the spring, when we have a lot of important objectives to accomplish, and we’ll have to wait and see what transpires in the summer.

“As I have stated previously, we would like to reach 100 million kroner in transfer fees within the next few years, and it would be great if he were the first to reach that limit.” Andersen continued, in response to a question about whether offers were turned down on the day of the deadline: “Yes. There are always concrete and less concrete things. There were never any numbers that made us deviate from our plan not to sell him in this transfer window. It wasn’t good enough, but hopefully it will be when the time is right for him and the club.”
