Since leaving Saudi Arabia, former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been officially disqualified from returning to British football right away.

According to reports, the Liverpool legend was in the running to become Carlisle United’s new manager; however, they revealed today that Mark Hughes was hired instead.

The 61-year-old has managed the Welsh national side as well as numerous other teams, including Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Bradford, Stoke City, and Southampton.

Gerrard, who famously led Rangers to their 55th title, is officially barred from playing British football after he replaces Mike Williamson in the dugout at Brunton Park.

Ally McCoist told sports betting site talkSPORT BET that he wouldn’t be shocked if Steven Gerrard returned to Rangers one day. “It wouldn’t surprise me if Steven Gerrard came back to Ibrox,” McCoist said, referring to the Englishman who recently left his position with Saudi Arabian top-flight team Al-Ettifaq. “He’s obviously held in really high regard by the supporters because of the league title he won, and his next job is going to be vitally important for him.”

“Since leaving Rangers, things haven’t gone as planned for him. We’ll see what Steven decides to do with his career since, similar to Frank Lampard’s journey to Coventry, his next assignment was crucial to him as well.

However, I believe that most Rangers supporters have now acknowledged that Philippe Clement has received the board’s support.

“They did a great job finishing in the top eight of the Europa League table, especially considering the strength of some of the teams they played.” “Having said that, some of the away performances have been completely unacceptable. They’ve been really poor in some games.” Gerrard left Ibrox after more than three years in charge in 2021 for Aston Villa.
