Former Norwich and Maidstone Midfielder Devonte Aransibia Passes Away at 26

Former Norwich City and Maidstone United player Devonte Aransibia has tragically passed away at the age of 26. In his memory, his family has launched a GoFundMe campaign.

Aransibia, born in London, began his football journey with Norwich City, where he was a key figure in their youth setup. Seeking first-team opportunities, he left the Canaries in 2018 and signed for Billericay Town.

After a period away from football, he returned to the game with spells at Chelmsford City and Welling United. In November 2022, he moved to Tonbridge Angels, where his performances eventually earned him a spot at Maidstone United.

He played a crucial role in Maidstone’s memorable FA Cup run under George Elokobi, helping the National League side secure seven consecutive victories en route to the fifth round. Aransibia found the net in the first-round win over Chesham, the club he later joined in the summer of 2024. His side famously defeated Championship outfit Ipswich Town, who were on the verge of Premier League promotion.

In a heartfelt statement on the GoFundMe page, his family wrote:

“It is with heavy hearts that we come together to honour the life of Dev, a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and dear friend to so many.

Beyond his loving nature, Dev was a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch.”

Tributes have poured in from across the football community. Tonbridge Angels manager Jay Saunders expressed his sorrow:

“It’s devastating news. Devonte was not only a talented footballer but also a great person. He was quiet at first but became a huge part of our team. I’m truly gutted for his family and everyone who knew him.

I can still picture his smile when he scored goals—he always looked so happy. He will be deeply missed.”

Aransibia’s passing has left a profound impact on those who knew him, both on and off the pitch.
