In the second leg of their Champions League play-off matchup with Real Madrid, Manchester City was four minutes away from leading by one goal but late strikes from Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz, both of whom are City graduates, startled the Etihad and gave the reigning champions the lead.

Erling Haaland had scored his second goal of the game and his 49th goal in 48 European Cup outings from the penalty spot just minutes before City’s most recent collapse.

After Haaland calmly slotted from 12 yards out, it looked as though the exciting match was ending in a narrow City victory, but Kylian Mbappe leveled the score on the hour with a fortunate flick of his shin.

But ahead of the rematch next week, City’s ambitions are in jeopardy after yet another wild few minutes at the Etihad.

Prior to that, Mail Sport’s AADAM PATEL surveyed the Etihad’s performers, identifying those who stood out and those who will be grateful for another opportunity at the Bernabeu.
