Norwich City are among several clubs battling for a play-off spot and will be aiming to secure a top-six finish by May.
Despite being one of the league’s most inconsistent teams, some might argue the Canaries are fortunate to still be in the race. However, at their peak, they can be a formidable force.
Impressive wins against Swansea City, Watford, and Plymouth Argyle have showcased their potential, but they remain prone to disappointing performances.
Should they clinch a play-off place, their top players will likely attract transfer interest. With that in mind, Football League World has identified three players who could be sold in the summer and what they might be worth.
Borja Sainz
Borja Sainz has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season and could leave Norwich City in the summer if a suitable offer arrives.
Arguably the most naturally talented player in the EFL, he has built on his previous performances and possesses the ability to score from anywhere on the pitch.
Although he has been sidelined for the past six games due to an incident, he is set to return soon and could be pivotal in Norwich’s push for the top six.
As the league’s top scorer, Sainz has attracted interest from Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao. A return to Spain could be appealing, particularly given his ties to Bilbao’s academy, where he spent five years.
If Norwich were to sell him, they would demand a hefty fee. Despite having just a year left on his contract, a valuation of £15-20 million would not be unreasonable.
Josh Sargent
Despite struggling with injuries, Josh Sargent is arguably the best striker in the Championship when fit.
Since joining Norwich in the 2021-22 season, he has maintained an impressive goal-scoring record in the second tier and has previously attracted interest. According to The Athletic, Bournemouth, St Louis City, and FC Cincinnati were all keen on signing him last summer.
If he continues his strong form, Premier League and MLS clubs may reignite their interest, and Norwich could consider cashing in.
A significant offer would be required for the Canaries to part ways with Sargent, likely in the region of £18 million. With his contract running until 2028, Norwich are in a strong position, but the striker may seek a move to a higher level if the club fails to provide that platform.
Marcelino Núñez
The final player on the list is Marcelino Núñez, who has been a key figure in Norwich’s midfield since his arrival from Universidad Católica in Chile.
Despite missing several games through injury, the 24-year-old has had arguably his best season, forming a solid partnership with Kenny McLean in midfield.
Reports from last summer suggested Trabzonspor made a €3.5 million bid for Núñez, though no move materialized, allowing him to continue his development at Carrow Road.
If he helps Norwich secure a play-off spot, renewed interest could emerge in the summer. This time, the club could demand a much higher fee, potentially around £10 million, even with just a year left on his contract.
While Norwich would prefer to keep him regardless of their league status, a lucrative offer could be difficult to turn down.
