Philippe Clement is facing immense pressure at Rangers due to a disastrous domestic campaign. The team has been eliminated from both cup competitions, including a shocking defeat to Queenā€™s Park.

Despite growing calls from fans for his dismissal, club CEO Patrick Stewart has publicly backed the Belgian manager.

Carlos Cuellar expresses desire to manage Rangers

Although he spent only one season at Ibrox, Carlos Cuellar has a deep affection for the club, and the feeling appears mutual among supporters.

During his 2007/08 stint, he was named Scottish Premier League Player of the Year and earned the nickname ā€œKing Carlosā€ from fans.

Now, having obtained his UEFA Pro Licence, Cuellar manages Real Murciaā€™s B team and envisions a future in coaching and management. When asked by the Scottish Sun about the possibility of managing Rangers, he responded enthusiastically:

ā€œI wish! It was my dream, to be honest. You realise how big it is when you are inside it. You knew.

ā€œTo be honest, that day ā€“ I wish. Fingers crossed it happens.

ā€œI would cry for sure because it would be one of the happiest days of my life.ā€

Could Cuellar be the change Rangers need?

With Clement under fire following poor results and humiliating cup exits, including the Queenā€™s Park loss, Rangers fans are desperate for a fresh approach. Cuellar, despite his limited managerial experience, could offer just that.

His emotional connection with the club, forged during his standout 2007/08 season, would likely endear him to supporters. His passion is undeniableā€”his admission that heā€™d ā€œcryā€ if given the opportunity underscores his deep love for Rangers.

Skeptics may question his lack of top-level managerial experience, but the club has taken similar risks before. Steven Gerrard, who had no prior senior management experience, led Rangers to the title. Meanwhile, seasoned hires like Clement and Giovanni van Bronckhorst struggled to maintain success.

Cuellarā€™s hunger, connection with the fans, and fresh perspective could energize both the squad and supporters, making him an intriguing managerial prospect despite his inexperience.
