The Leicester City winger collided with the Ipswich midfielder during Saturday’s match, and the midfielder is still upset about not receiving a penalty.
Conor Chaplin, a midfielder for Ipswich, is still upset about the non-penalty award after the team’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Abdul Fatawu collided with Chaplin during Saturday’s game, knocking him over inside the Foxes box in a contentious moment. Less than 30 seconds later, Kalvin Phillips was given a second yellow card for going in late on Ricardo Pereira. The game was altered by those two moments, and City later equalised by Jordan Ayew in the 94th minute.
Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich, was furious and called the refereeing calls “unacceptable.” Additionally, it appears that Chaplin is still upset about the penalty incident.
The attacking midfield player shared a photo of himself and Fatawu getting acquainted on Instagram on Sunday night. As though he still finds it hard to believe that he was not given a penalty, he marked it with the shrugging guy emoji.
“Conor moves the ball onto his left foot, the winger comes steaming out to Conor and just steams into his stomach as he goes to take his shot,” McKenna said in his post-match verdict. It’s not a contentious one, in my opinion.
Steve Cooper, the manager of City, responded, “For us or them?” when asked what he thought of the penalty call. I can’t recall. Sorry, I didn’t see it. Yes, I do recall. Wasn’t it from a free kick or set-piece? Yes. I didn’t see it, sorry. But I do recall the occasion.
The decision has angered Ipswich supporters, but City supporters have been reminding them of a pivotal moment in the 1-1 draw in the same match last season. As he pressed for the goal, Cameron Burgess rushed over Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but there was no penalty.
