Atletico Madrid remains interested in signing one of Leicester City’s key players ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad is expected to undergo significant changes next season, with multiple players either out of contract or likely to leave. Leicester’s struggles in the transfer market have frustrated fans, many of whom blame Jon Rudkin for the club’s ongoing issues.

Financial constraints under PSR remain a concern for Leicester, but there should be funds available for new signings. One potential arrival is Dario Osorio, a highly-rated 21-year-old Chilean winger who has been compared to Alexis Sanchez.

However, departures are also expected, and Atletico Madrid is monitoring a player they previously pursued in January.

Atletico Madrid’s Continued Interest in Wilfred Ndidi

Earlier in the transfer window, Atletico attempted to sign Wilfred Ndidi, but the move fell through after the player’s agent confirmed his stay at Leicester. Despite this setback, Caught Offside reports that Diego Simeone has not abandoned his pursuit of the Nigerian midfielder and plans to make another attempt in the summer.

Ndidi, who was also linked with Monaco, recently returned to action after nearly two months out with an injury. The 28-year-old is regarded as one of Leicester’s top performers, and convincing the club to sell him could prove challenging—unless they suffer relegation.

Van Nistelrooy’s Admiration for Ndidi

Ndidi is not only a fan favorite but also highly valued by Van Nistelrooy. Leicester’s form noticeably dipped in his absence, underscoring his importance to the team.

Before their defeat to Arsenal, Van Nistelrooy praised Ndidi’s leadership and overall impact:

“It starts with his character, which is excellent. Then there’s his leadership and ability to arrive in the box, like we saw against United.

“He has an enormous influence on and off the pitch. His complete package has lifted the team.”
