Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho has revealed that Sheffield United made an offer for him during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old joined the Blues in January last year but couldn’t prevent their relegation to League One. Speculation surrounded his future in the following window, with both Sheffield United and Leeds United reportedly interested.

Although he remained in the Midlands, Paik has now confirmed that an offer from Sheffield United was on the table.

Speaking to Korean outlet Naver Sports, he said: “I received offers from Sheffield United, Norwich, and Stoke. If I had pushed for a move, the club would have let me go.

“At first, the manager told me, ‘If you’re not committed to staying or giving your best, let me know, and I’ll definitely allow you to leave.’

“In the end, all the players who felt that way left. But I believed this manager was too good to walk away from. Had I moved, I wouldn’t have known what kind of football awaited me elsewhere.

“It was a really stressful period, but I ultimately decided to stay, and I’m very happy with my choice.”

The South Korean international has made 25 League One appearances this season, providing two assists.

Birmingham currently leads the third tier, holding a nine-point advantage over second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.
