Archie Gray, a lifelong Leeds United supporter, was seen at Elland Road taking time out of his busy schedule to watch his club in action. Attentive viewers would have noticed the Tottenham player in the stands as Gray observed Leeds secure a 2-1 win over Sunderland.
During the match, Gray also witnessed referee Stuart Atwell’s performance—an important moment given Atwell’s established status in the Premier League, especially after Neil Warnock called Daniel Farke’s yellow card a “disgrace.” Nonetheless, this incident didn’t impact the final result, with Leeds reclaiming the top spot in the Championship.
Gray was undoubtedly thrilled with the victory, and his reaction to the win has since been shared. Meanwhile, despite having left the Whites in the summer, Daniel Farke still speaks fondly of the Spurs youngster, drawing comparisons between Ao Tanaka and Gray. Controversy arose when Farke substituted Tanaka with 20 minutes remaining for Joe Rothwell—a decision that turned out to be a masterstroke as Rothwell provided two crucial assists. Farke explained that the change was made with set-pieces in mind.
Gray must have been in awe of his former manager’s tactical ingenuity that secured the win, as the Tottenham player was later seen celebrating exuberantly after the match. One Twitter user, @JamieLee76, even shared a photo of Gray after the game, captioning it: “Just 2 fans celebrating a great win! #lufc #mot.”
At just 18 and having spent only one season at Elland Road, Gray has already become a Leeds hero—a remarkable feat given his young age. While it would be fantastic to see him playing on the pitch for Leeds again, his performances for Tottenham this season have clearly demonstrated that he is already beyond Championship level.

Sunderland captain Dan Neil described Leeds as a “quality” team, adding that if Gray ever hits a rough patch at Spurs, there would be an open door for him in Farke’s office at Leeds. Who knows—maybe one day we’ll see Gray donning the white of Leeds once more. For now, however, fans can expect to see many more of his appearances in the stands at Elland Road.
