Norfolk Holdings Increases Stake to 85% in Norwich City After Share Conversion

Norfolk Holdings, the investment group led by American businessman Mark Attanasio, has officially completed the conversion of its D Preference Shares into Ordinary Shares on a one-for-one basis. This development significantly increases the group’s stake in Norwich City, consolidating its control over the club.

Following this transaction, Norfolk Holdings now owns approximately 85% of Norwich City’s ordinary share capital. Longtime majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones have retained a 10% stake, with the remaining 5% held by other club shareholders.

A Major Step in Attanasio’s Vision for Norwich

Mark Attanasio, who is also the principal owner of Major League Baseball side Milwaukee Brewers, initially acquired a stake in Norwich City in 2022. Over the past two years, his influence within the club has steadily increased, culminating in this latest move that cements his control.

The conversion of preference shares into ordinary shares marks a significant shift in the club’s ownership structure, further signaling a long-term commitment from Attanasio and his investment group. It also grants Norfolk Holdings greater decision-making authority as Norwich aims to strengthen its position in English football and pursue a return to the Premier League.

What This Means for Norwich City

While Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones have remained involved in the club, this latest development suggests that Norfolk Holdings is set to play a leading role in shaping Norwich City’s future. With financial stability and potential new investment opportunities, supporters will be keen to see how this impacts the club’s transfer strategy, infrastructure development, and overall footballing ambitions.

Attanasio has previously expressed his desire to see Norwich grow as a competitive club, and with majority ownership now secured, the coming months and seasons will reveal how his leadership influences the team’s trajectory.

Looking Ahead

With Norfolk Holdings now holding an 85% controlling stake, attention will turn to potential investment plans, future boardroom decisions, and how this shift will translate to the pitch. Norwich City fans will hope that this move lays the foundation for sustained success as the club continues its push for promotion back to the Premier League.
