Leicester City Academy Trial Young Talent Riley Carr

Leicester City could have found a rising star in 16-year-old Riley Carr, who has joined the club on trial from Hertford Town, a side competing in the eighth tier of English football.

Carr has wasted no time making an impression, scoring and providing an assist in his debut for the under-18s during a 2-2 draw with Norwich. He then played a key role in their 4-3 victory over Brighton at the weekend.

A pacey winger with exceptional close control, Carr is the youngest player to ever feature and score for Hertford. He also played a pivotal role in their under-18s’ FA Youth Cup campaign, helping them reach the third round before a narrow 4-3 loss to Arsenal.

His performances have attracted significant attention, with Hertford manager Ben Herd revealing that as many as 27 clubs are monitoring him.

Leicester’s Under-21s and Under-18s Continue to Impress

The under-18s’ win against Brighton extended their unbeaten run to three games, with recent signing Bless Akolbire, formerly of Arsenal, finding the net once again.

Meanwhile, Leicester’s under-21s secured their fourth consecutive Premier League 2 victory, defeating Tottenham 2-0 at Seagrave. Amani Richards, recently back from a loan at Exeter, scored and assisted Logan Briggs’ goal.

The match also marked the return of 16-year-old Jake Evans from injury. He played 30 minutes off the bench and is reportedly under consideration for first-team involvement, with Ruud van Nistelrooy potentially eyeing him as an attacking option ahead of Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.

The under-21s’ latest win keeps them in eighth place in the Premier League 2 table, strengthening their chances of securing a play-off spot. With three games left, they hold a five-point lead inside the top 16, though some chasing teams have a game in hand.

International Recognition for Leicester Academy Stars

One of City’s most exciting prospects, 15-year-old Jeremy Monga, was absent from both the under-21 and under-18 squads as he represented England’s under-16s. He captained the team and scored in both of their matches, a 4-0 win over Colombia and a thrilling 7-3 victory over Denmark, where he netted a stunning free-kick.

Interestingly, France’s under-16 captain during the same international break was a former Leicester academy player who had previously played alongside Monga. That player, midfielder Tyrese Noubissie, had been regarded as one of the top young talents at Seagrave before Manchester City secured his signature in the summer of 2023.
